Expanding community partnerships
DUKE Heights BIA and Osgoode Hall Law School have collaborated to create the first of its kind community partnership to help businesses in the area access legal information at their convenience.
The partnership is an example of how institutions and business improvement areas can come together to create social initiatives that can enhance social procurement strategies and improve educational tools. This project is part of a larger initiative to develop an employment hub where employers and job seekers will both find resources to help grow their potential.
Free legal information services in partnership with Osgoode Hall Law School
As a DUKE Heights member, you now have access to legal information services free of charge from the Osgoode Hall Law School. This online platform is designed to improve access to legal information for business owners, employers, employees and future entrepreneurs operating in the BIA. Through this initiative, Osgoode and DUKE Heights hope to foster improvements for members of the business community and help them overcome the hurdles of access to legal information that many business owners face. This strategy is the first of its kind and is one of many that will be implemented to encourage growth, investment, and improvements for Duke Heights BIA members.
Dedicated Community Impact Coordinator
To ensure success of this collaboration, Symone Walters has joined as the Community Impact Coordinator to develop strategies and initiatives specific to the area. As a liaison for Osgoode Hall Law School and the DUKE Heights BIA, she works with BIA members, the university, employment organizations and potential employees. With years of experience contributing to the community, Symone will be working to create improvements for the people who live, work, and do business in the DUKE Heights neighborhood.
