Inside Toronto Brewing’s Home for Homebrewers and Craft Beverage Makers

August 17, 2026

August 18, 2026

..

Whether you are brewing your first batch at home or running a growing craft beverage business, having the right equipment, ingredients and advice can make all the difference.
Located in North York, Toronto Brewing has grown into a go-to destination for homebrewers, craft beverage makers and commercial producers across Canada. From draft systems and fermentation equipment to specialty ingredients and distilling supplies, the company brings together the tools and expertise needed to turn a good idea into a great brew.

From a Kitchen Experiment to a Growing Business

Toronto Brewing began with a passion for craft beer. In 2008, founder Zack Weinberg returned from a music trip to California with a new appreciation for West Coast-style India Pale Ales. Inspired by their bold, hop-forward flavours, he brought some bottles home to Toronto, found an IPA recipe online and decided to try brewing it himself.

The experiment quickly became a passion. Friends and fellow beer enthusiasts took notice, and in 2011, Weinberg left his day job and launched Toronto Brewing from his basement.

“Having grown up in a beer drinking family, I was no stranger to macro-brewed lagers but had NEVER had such a visceral experience from drinking any other type of beer,” Mr. Weinberg recalls. “Our vision was to create a local brewing supply store that carried hard-to-find ingredients and equipment to empower other like-minded homebrewers.”

What began as a basement operation has since grown into a 4,500-square-foot retail store and fulfillment warehouse, serving customers across Canada.

Equipment for Every Stage of the Journey

Today, Toronto Brewing carries equipment and supplies for everyone from curious beginners to experienced commercial producers. The company works with leading industry brands and offers a wide selection of equipment, including:

  • Draft and keg systems: From single-, dual- and triple-tap home kegerators to undercounter, built-in and commercial systems, customers can find options from brands such as Kegland, Kegco, Allavino and Summit
  • Glycol and water chillers: Temperature control is an important part of successful fermentation. Toronto Brewing offers chillers and temperature-control equipment from brands including The Grainfather and Spike Brewing.
  • Brewing hardware: Stainless-steel tri-clamps, ball valves, high-temperature magnetic pumps, wort chillers, grain mills, mash tuns and specialty kettles help brewers build reliable systems at virtually any scale.

For someone just getting started, the journey can be as simple as:

Starter Kit → Ingredients → Fermentation & Equipment → Draft & Keg System

Ingredients, Brewing Kits and Distilling Supplies

With more than 2,500 products in stock, Toronto Brewing gives brewers plenty of room to experiment and develop their own recipes. Its selection includes whole and crushed grains, liquid and dry malt extracts, hops from around the world and yeast strains from suppliers such as Escarpment Labs, Omega Yeast and Lalvin.

For beginners, 1-gallon and 5-gallon starter kits provide an approachable way to get into brewing beer, cider or mead. Recipe kits are also available for both all-grain and extract brewing, making it easier to go from an idea to a finished batch.

The store also serves the growing craft distilling community. Its selection includes Still Spirits systems such as the T500 and Air Still, North Stills pot and reflux stills, Turbo Yeasts and specialty essences for creating spirits at home or in small-scale operations.

A Convenient GTA Brewing Hub

Toronto Brewing's headquarters are located at 3701 Chesswood Drive, near Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue West, in the DUKE Heights Business Improvement Area (BIA).

For a business that handles everything from heavy commercial kettles and chillers to bags of grain and other brewing supplies, the location offers practical advantages. Its North York location also makes it convenient for GTA brewers who want to speak with someone in person, get advice on equipment, refill CO₂ tanks or receive technical support.

At the same time, the company's online store allows customers across Canada to access the same wide range of products and supplies.

Stop By or Shop Online

Whether you are curious about brewing your first batch, looking to upgrade your home setup or sourcing equipment for a commercial operation, Toronto Brewing offers a combination of products, experience and hands-on support.
