January 10, 2023
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
I would like to kick off the first Councillor's Corner edition for 2023 by wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year. I am very excited about the opportunity to continue my partnership with DUKE Heights BIA as we work together to help businesses and the community prosper. The BIA received two awards at the 10th annual TABIA Awards Night last month, I extend my congratulations to them for the well-deserved honours. These recognitions are reflective of the great work DUKE Heights BIA engages in to strengthen its bond with the community. As we start a New Year, I stand ready to collaborate with DUKE Heights BIA to advance our ambitious goals, one of which pertains to the completion of the Finch West LRT.
This project, which is scheduled to be completed this year, connects the west side of this city and neighbouring municipalities with the businesses that operate within DUKE Heights and helps commercial industries link their services with the general public. My staff and I continue to work with the BIA to monitor the construction of the project. We are also in close partnership to showcase and display public art near the Finch West LRT station as a means of enhancing the streetscape and attracting commuters.
These ideas were crafted with the business community in mind and are part of my larger commitment to having the backs of hardworking business owners and workers. I would like to once again highlight the array of support the City offers for the business community which can be found at Toronto.ca/business-support. I look forward to bolstering any and all ideas at Council that benefit the business community as I have done in the past. I am enthusiastic about what lies ahead!
Sincerely,
Councillor James Pasternak
