Dear Neighbours,
I hope everyone enjoyed celebrating Canada Day with family and friends in York Centre. As for myself, I had a wonderful time joining thousands in attendance at the Downsview Park Canada Day celebration. Here are a few updates that I wish to share.
During a City Council Meeting on June 28, we adopted my motion for the City of Toronto to explore ways to support the organizers and local hosts of the Special Hockey International Tournament. This is a significant event that is scheduled to take place in March 2026 at the Chesswood Arena and Scotiabank Pond Arena. The event is expected to bring in a massive crowd of supporters to Toronto. There will be about 60 teams from across Canada, the United States, and England participating in this tournament. We look forward to contributing and attending in 2026.
This month, Toronto Hydro has begun conducting critical electricity distribution system upgrades in York Centre at the following sites:
● Sections of Dorking Crescent, Nash Drive, and Gade Drive
● A section of the city-owned property on Faywood Boulevard
● A section of Roding Street and Gade Drive
● A section of Keele Street, Tangiers Road, Alexdon Road, and Toro Road

Our office is working with TTC Board Chair Jamal Myers and Metrolinx to arrange for a new TTC blue night bus stop at Keele and Finch in front of the Finch West Subway Station. An additional stop on this route during off-peak hours will make life easier for late-shift workers who commute via public transit to travel across York Centre. I will keep the community updated on this initiative once further progress is made.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me and my team via phone at 416-392-1371 or by email at councillor_pasternak@toronto.ca.
Sincerely,
James Pasternak
