Dear Neighbours,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Canada Day Celebration earlier this week. Here are a few updates that I wish to share.
Recently, I arranged an important meeting with Jason Thorne, City of Toronto Chief Planner, Duke Heights Business Improvement Area, and Councillor Anthony Perruzza discussing opportunities for localized planning studies within the BIA boundaries and provincial policy changes to employment sectors. Mitigating the potential economic and employment impact of Bill 97 and Official Plan Amendment 804 remain as high priority items for our office. We will continue to share ongoing updates on these policies.

Scheduled concerts have officially begun at the temporary Rogers Stadium located off Sheppard Avenue West and Chesswood Drive. Large-scale concerts and events are an important part of our city’s cultural and economic life. They bring energy to our public spaces, attract foot traffic to the area, and boost revenue for local businesses. We are actively working with key Rogers Stadium stakeholders on noise mitigation, traffic management plans, and striking a balance of hosting successful events while maintaining quality of life for the community.
StreetARToronto is launching their 2025 Outside the Box program which provides an opportunity for local artists to create works of art on traffic signal boxes across the city. I am pleased that one of the selected locations is in York Centre located at Toro Road and Tangiers Road. We look forward to seeing this new artwork on display within the next two weeks.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me and my team via phone at 416-392-1371 or by email at councillor_pasternak@toronto.ca.
Sincerely,
James Pasternak
City Councillor for Ward 6 – York Centre
Chair, North York Community Council
