It has been 1 year since we rebranded ourselves as the DUKE Heights BIA and it has been a very successful year as we furthered the name of our BIA throughout the GTA. We have had positive coverage from CBC News, CBC Radio, Global News Network, and Metroland Media. We were also able to welcome many people to DUKE Heights through events like Mayor John Tory’s Economic Update Breakfast hosted at Teknion, where over 200 people came into DUKE Heights to learn more about our industries here. We have built on that momentum by hosting a new networking series called DUKE Talks in both October and November inviting members, stakeholders and industry specialists.
DUKE Heights has also worked with several prestigious groups like the Pembina Institute, IBI Group and Ryerson University to complete and start several research projects about the DUKE Heights area. From these studies, we have discovered some of the industry and transportation patterns and needs of our members that will allow us to better improve conditions for our members.
2016 has been a great foundational year for the DUKE Heights BIA and 2017 promises to be an exciting year of changes for us. We are excited to welcome the opening of the new subway stations at the end of 2017 and to begin our own beautification projects on Finch Avenue West in the Spring of 2017.
We want to thank all our members for their support through 2016 and we wish you all a successful 2017.
