Ward 7 Councillor’s Corner: Coronavirus: COVID–19 Update

April 1, 2020

April 01, 2020

The Coronavirus – COVID-19 has impacted all of us. It is important to listen to the recommendations of all levels of government and to prioritize our health and safety, along with the well-being of our city and country. Social distancing and patience, along with focusing on self-care are extremely important right now.

If you need groceries, do not go out in groups or with your family as if it were a social outing. You can go for walks, but you need to keep 6 feet of space between you and others. Park amenities and playgrounds are closed to prevent public gatherings. If you do not live with someone, you should not invite them over and you should not be visiting them. If you need to drop off groceries for someone in need, leave them at the front door.

If you have any concerns, questions or need access to resources, please give my office a call at: (416) 338-5335 or email councillor_perruzza@toronto.ca. My staff will continue to provide support, even as the situation changes.

For regular updates follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or subscribe to my regular e-newsletter updates by visiting www.anthonyperruzza.com

For questions about the help available for local businesses, the City of Toronto is developing an Economic Support & Recovery Task Force to complement the Government of Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan.

Please visit: toronto.ca/home/covid-19/economic-support-recovery/

For questions related to Employment Insurance and the Emergency Response Benefit, the Government of Canada is updating their website regularly. Those with children may qualify for certain benefits.

Please visit: canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/corporate/notices/coronavirus.html

For questions about Property Taxes and Income Taxes, including updated deadlines, please visit the links below:

Income Taxes: canada.ca/en/services/taxes/income-tax.html

This has been a challenging time for everyone, especially our most vulnerable. Please call to check on loved ones and neighbours on an ongoing basis. My staff and I will be doing the same. I know that we will get through this together and recover as a society.

Many people are experiencing anxiety and worry, and I want you to know that there are numbers that you can call if you would like to speak with someone who can assist with stress management.
