Build Back Better with DUKE Heights

April 01, 2021

Dear Neighbour,

I hope everyone is safe, keeping well and not losing faith that we will soon put the worst of the pandemic behind us. Recently, our office hosted a Vaccine Town Hall with the doctors of North York General Hospital, who provided vital information on vaccines. Getting everyone vaccinated is imperative to defeating the virus. As of March 27th seniors aged 70 or older are eligible to register to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment. Eligible seniors can book appointments through toronto.ca/covid-19 or book by phone through the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488 (TTY 1-866-797-0007).

As a reminder, the City has relaunching CafeTO, which cuts the red tape to help the restaurant industry operate in a safe, outdoor, patio environment. City Council authorized, Transportation Services, to restart a program to allow for accelerating the review, approval and installation of sidewalk cafés, curb lane/parklet cafés or public parklets.

Our office is excited about working with DUKE Heights to roll out more Bell Box murals. This public art program has transformed the public realm, supported local artists, and created a positive business environment. Art on utility boxes makes a big difference.

As we enter spring, 2021, we are excited to support and partner with DUKE Heights on enhancing the public realm at the northeast corner of Dufferin and Finch; organizing a Drive By Environment Day at the Dufferin Transfer Station and helping new businesses start up and grow in the DUKE Heights and surrounding catchment areas.

As always my staff and I are here to help you with whatever you might need. Our community office is located at 2800 Keele Street, Unit 1. Please do not hesitate to call me at 416-392-1371 or send me a message at Councillor_Pasternak@Toronto.ca

Sincerely,

James Pasternak
Councillor, Ward 6
