Dear Neighbours,
I hope all is well and safe in the York Centre community. There are a few updates that I have to share this month.
The Downsview Transmission Main on Keele Street and Tangiers Road is receiving a vital upgrade which will improve the water system infrastructure in this vicinity. Construction to complete this transmission watermain upgrade has begun, and it is scheduled to be completed in April 2024.
City of Toronto applications and renewals for the 2024 improved CaféTO curb lane program are now open for applicants. Restaurants, cafes, and bars in York Centre (and city-wide) are given a beneficial opportunity to expand their seating capacity and create a comfortable outdoor dining space for their customers. I encourage anyone interested to take advantage of this program. Visit this link to apply for or renew your curb lane patio.
As a reminder from January, my office continues to monitor the progress of the Update Downsview Secondary Plan. Information including Zoning By-law for Interim Uses, Urban Design Guidelines, and detailed site maps can be accessed by visiting this webpage. I will continue to provide updates on developments for this significant project as soon as they are made available.
On a final note, I would like to thank everyone from the York Centre community who attended our Councillor Skate Day event at the pop-up ice rink by 34 Hanover Road. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this wonderful amenity while it remains available for public use on weekends until March 17, 2024.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me and my team via phone at 416-392-1371 or by email at councillor_pasternak@toronto.ca.
Sincerely,
James Pasternak
