Dear Resident,
Last month, I had the privilege of attending Lumacare’s celebration of 50 years of dedicated service to seniors in Humber-River Black Creek. Lumacare’s journey began in 1975 with a three-day-a-week Meals on Wheels program for older adults in the Downsview community. Since then Lumacare expanded its services to seniors, including adult day programs, transportation services, physiotherapy services, and home support. It’s truly remarkable to witness their growth and commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors over the decades.

Are you looking for ways to make your home greener? The Local Enhancement & Appreciation of Forests (LEAF) organization and the City of Toronto have launched its Toronto-Low Canopy Neighbourhood Greening Initiative. This project aims to plant more trees in underserved neighbourhoods by offering 1 free tree and 3 free shrubs per property. Trees not only beautify our city, but also provide us shade on hot summer days, clean our air, and boost our overall health.
For more information, you can visit: https://www.yourleaf.org/toronto-low-canopy-neighbourhood-greening-initiative. You may also send an email at: info@yourleaf.org or call: 416 413 9244.
Wishing you well as our communities observe Ramadan, Happy Easter, and a meaningful Passover. May these sacred occasions bring you and your loved ones peace, joy, and blessing.
