Dear Neighbours,
I hope everyone is doing well. Here are a few updates that I wish to share.
We are deeply disappointed by the United States tariffs imposed on Canadian Exports resulting in a trade war and retaliatory tariffs by the Government of Canada. As declared in my recently adopted motion, the City of Toronto stands firm against this economic threat. I recently spoke with The US Consul General in Toronto, and he understands the grave consequences of this trade war. As we navigate through this time of uncertainty, it is vital to stay resilient and support our local businesses and workers.
Beginning this month, Toronto Hydro will be upgrading overhead and underground electrical cables and replacing hydro poles on City-owned property within the ward. One site is located at the intersection of Keele and Steeles. Upgrades will also be undertaken at sections of Keele Street between Ashwarren Road (North) and Dovehouse Avenue (South). For further information or if anyone has any questions, please visit www.torontohydro.com/construction, call 416-542-3366, or email capitalprojects@torontohydro.com.
Lastly, I would like to thank everyone from the York Centre community who attended our Councillor Skate Day event at the pop-up ice rink by 34 Hanover Road. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this wonderful amenity while it remains available for public use on weekends until February 17, 2025.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me and my team via phone at 416-392-1371 or by email at councillor_pasternak@toronto.ca.
Sincerely,
James Pasternak
City Councillor for Ward 6 – York Centre
Chair, North York Community Council
