Dear Neighbours,
I hope everyone is well-rested and got the chance to enjoy the remainder of their summer. Here are a few updates that I wish to share.
I was proud to be part of a great initiative at the annual Tour de DUKE Heights event at York University Keele Campus. We provided 50 new bicycles to children and youth, encouraging them to cycle and participate in physical activities. Thanks to DUKE Heights BIA Chair Dr. Lew Pliamm and DUKE Heights BIA for facilitating this event and Toronto Police Service 31 Division for partnering with us. I look forward to collaborating on future community initiatives.
Beginning this month, Toronto Hydro will upgrade underground electrical cables on city-owned property within a section of Flint Road. Toronto Hydro may also require access to the properties within the work boundaries to install an underground pipe connecting the meter at your home to the main electrical line. This project is expected to be completed by December 2024.
The Downsview Watermain Upgrade Project which began in November 2022, is scheduled to be completed by late summer of 2025. The transmission watermain has been installed and is ready to be commissioned, meaning it will be connected to the existing active local distribution watermains that deliver water to your home. Transmission watermain commissioning work is scheduled to occur between September and October 2024.
This project is part of the Council-approved Capital Works Program to improve water pressure to meet current demands and support future development in the Downsview area. For more information, please visit the link below:
