On February 19, 2024, the DUKE Heights BIA became a vibrant hub of festivities as families from neighboring communities gathered at Paramount Ice Complex, located at 1107 Finch Ave W to celebrate Family Day. From 1 PM to 4 PM on February 19, 2024, the air was filled with joy as attendees enjoyed free ice skating with a range of freebies.
Despite the unusual winter weather this time of the year, spirits remained high inside the ice rink as residents took to the ice, gliding merrily and novice skaters learning the ropes with the help of the staff members at Paramount Ice and their friends and families. The free ice skating sessions provided the perfect opportunity for families to bond and create cherished memories.
To keep everyone warm and fueled for the fun-filled afternoon, the DUKE Heights team offered limited supplies of free hot chocolate. Additionally, attendees had the chance to pick up some exclusive BIA merchandise, serving as souvenirs of a special day spent with loved ones.
The event drew an impressive turnout, with over 400 residents and community members coming together to participate in the festivities. The esteemed guests, including Hon. Michael Kerzner, Solicitor General and MPP for York Centre, and Tom Rakocevic, MPP for Humber River—Black Creek graced the occasion with their presence and its impact on fostering strong community bonds in the DUKE Heights neighborhood.
