Businesses can apply for Energy and Property Tax Rebates through the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Businesses (CEAP-SB) if required to shut down or significantly restrict services due to provincial health measures. Customers may be eligible for up to $1500 in support towards their electricity and natural gas bills. Eligible businesses can apply through their utility provider.

FOCUS GROUP: No Cost Green Recovery Support
TABIA (The Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas) has launched no cost support services to improve your business’s energy efficiency and lower its energy cost. For a limited time, TABIA will be piloting no cost energy efficiency support services to help “green” your business.
At no cost TABIA will:
- Analyze your business’ utility bills for anomalies
- Perform a free audit to identify energy efficiency projects (inclusive of no and low cost)
- Benchmark your building’s performance against industry averages
These support services are on a first come first serve basis to only 10 businesses at this time.
Participants will be encouraged to commit to a green recovery by planning which identified projects to implement by May 31,2021.

Small Business Lighting program
Receive up to $2,000 in free LED interior lighting upgrades to your business. LED lighting upgrades can save you up to 20% on your electricity costs.
The Retrofit Program
Upgrade your equipment and improve your operations with the help of the Retrofit program. You can receive incentives for a variety of energy efficient measures available under three streams: Lighting, HVAC, and Manufacturing and other equipment. To participate, your project must be pre-approved with a minimum incentive of $500.
Energy Manager Incentive Program for Small and Medium Enterprises
Hire an energy manager and receive funding up to 75% of the cost toward their salary and benefits, to a maximum of $80,000. Energy managers have the strategic and technical expertise to recommend the energy-saving equipment and technologies that are right for your business. They also have the skills to implement an energy management strategy for your organization.
Energy Assessment Incentive
Conduct an energy assessment of a building or building system and be reimbursed for 75% of the cost, up to $5,000 per assessment.
Other Supporting services
- Energy Audits, Natural Gas and Electricity bill analysis to identify operational issues, cost increases or opportunities;
- Retrofit and upgrade project support to ensure contractor accountability and accurate savings;
- SolarTO program for prospective solar PV projects, etc.
