On September 28, 2025, DUKE Heights BIA welcomed residents and families to the Soupalicious DUKE Heights, a Community Harvest Celebration at the Champagne Centre's northwest parking lot—an area that was transformed into a lively festival space for the day. From the warmth and taste of delicious simmering soups to vibrant community engagement, the event delivered a memorable experience for all.
Attendees enjoyed a wide assortment of hearty soups brought by BIA vendors and farmers from outside our BIA, along with bread and fresh corn, with live musical performances, face painting, and arts & crafts providing entertainment for all ages. To kick off the fall spirit, the first 100 families received complimentary pumpkins, adding to the festive mood.
We extend our sincere thanks to our key event partners: The Compost Council of Canada, Plant • Grow • Share a Row, Harrowsmith, Champagne Centre, and valued local businesses: Goldie’s by Eisenbergs, Freshii, and La Liga Sports Complex, whose involvement was instrumental in the event's success. Thanks to the Metrolinx team as well for their active participation.
This year’s Soupalicious welcomed a large turnout, bringing warmth and vibrancy to the DUKE Heights community. Guests sampled a range of soups—from traditional comfort food to vegan and vegetarian-friendly recipes—generously provided by local restaurants and coordinated by our community partners, led by the Compost Council of Canada.
Entertainment highlights included live music by String Bone and engaging performances by Let the Good Times Roll. Children’s activities—such as face painting with Ariel, pumpkin painting by Monika, and BIA merchandise giveaways—kept younger attendees delighted throughout the day.
A core component of the event was its commitment to sustainability. Soupalicious continues to champion zero-waste initiatives, encouraging attendees to embrace environmentally conscious habits. This focus reflects the growing awareness and dedication within DUKE Heights toward a more sustainable future.
