In the heart of DUKE Heights lies a sweet spot for those with a love for desserts - meet Sweets from the Earth. What started in the small apartment kitchen of Ilana Kadonoff, has grown into a multi-facility bakery right here in North York.
In 2002, motivated by a lack of vegan dessert options, Ilana found herself experimenting with original recipes for plant-based treats. From classic vanilla cupcakes to moist chocolate chip cookies, her desserts became a hit with local customers.
Soon after, Sweets from the Earth grew into a commercial kitchen and it did not take long for their unique desserts to hit retailers’ shelves across Canada. Eventually, this meant even bigger facilities were needed for their allergen-friendly treats, and Sweets from the Earth moved its delicious operations right onto Canarctic Drive.
Proudly family-run, the company makes a full line of dairy-free, egg-free, vegan baked goods, which are made using only the finest all-natural, 100% plant-based ingredients. They offer nut-free, gluten-free, and sugar-free options, with countless choices including their best-selling Cookies ‘n Cream Cake and S’mores Cookie. Every product is crafted with the environment and people in mind, without compromising on taste or dietary restrictions.
Sweets from the Earth also has a charming Bakery Outlet that is open 6 days a week, located at Keele and Steeles (near York University). As you step inside, you're immediately greeted by the aroma of freshly baked goods and brewed coffee. They offer a complete range of products, including exciting new and outlet-exclusive treats, which pair perfectly with barista-crafted hot and cold beverages like caramel lattes and iced matchas.
