DUKE Heights Soupalicious Community Harvest event was held on September 29, 2024, at Champagne Centre’s northwest parking lot. The parking area was transformed into a vibrant space for participants to enjoy a delicious selection of soups, fresh corn, and other tasty delights, all while being entertained by live music, face painting, and a variety of arts & crafts for children. The first hundred families were gifted free pumpkins to take home, adding to the festive atmosphere.
A special thank you to our event partners, including the Compost Council of Canada, Plant • Grow • Share a Row, Harrowsmith, Champagne Centre, Metrolinx, Mosaic Transit Group, and the outstanding BIA-member businesses: Goldie's by Eisenbergs, Freshii, Paramount Ice, La Liga Sports Complex, and Diamond Dental Champagne.
This year’s Soupalicious event brought together the delightful aromas of simmering soups, the laughter of happy attendees, and a warm sense of community collaboration on a beautiful sunny day in DUKE Heights. The annual celebration welcomed a large number of participants which contributed to another successful year. A highlight at DUKE Heights Soupalicious was the remarkable variety of soups available. Along with the team of partner organizations led by the Compost Council of Canada, our local restaurants- Goldie's by Eisenbergs and Freshii came forward to serve their finest healthy creations, offering a tasting experience that included everything from traditional comfort soups, to vegetarian and vegan options catering to diverse palates. The event's success embodies the spirit of community collaboration, with local businesses, organizations, and volunteers joining forces. Attendees enjoyed live performances from southern Ontario’s beloved band, String Bone, and entertainment from Let the Good Times Roll, while families engaged in activities such as face painting, pumpkin painting, BIA giveaways and raffle prizes.
